Types, Materials and Sizes

TYPE OF SOCKS:

1. Invisible socks (or "footies")

  • Length : Does not extend beyond the shoe.
  • Use : Discreet, perfect for loafers, boat shoes, light sneakers.                                                       

2. Half socks

  • Length : Just below or at ankle level.
  • Use : Very practical for sneakers, in summer or for sports.

3. Socks

  • Length : Covers the ankle and rises slightly above it.
  • Use : Versatile for everyday wear, stays discreet with most sneakers.

4. Classic socks ("crew socks")

  • Length : Reaches approximately mid-calf.
  • Use : Standard size for everyday life, in the city, at the office, for light sports.

5. Mid-calf socks

  • Length : A little higher than mid-calf, without reaching the knee.
  • Use : More formal attire, worn with trousers or suits.

6. High socks

  • Length : Hits below the knee.
  • Use : Widely used in the professional environment (men and women) or for a more formal look.

7. Bottom

  • Length : Covers the entire leg up to mid-thigh.
  • Use : Worn mainly by women with skirts or dresses.

MATERIALS:

  • Cotton : Breathable, soft, natural. Versatile for everyday use.
  • Wool : Very warm, ideal for winter, especially merino wool (anti-odor, breathable).
  • Bamboo : Naturally antibacterial, soft and eco-friendly.
  • Synthetic (polyester, nylon, elastane) : Lightweight, elastic, dries quickly, often blended with natural materials to add durability.
  • Silk : Luxurious, fine and breathable, but more fragile.
